The Final Choice {AKA Our Christmas Card ~2012}

Well, of all of the photos that we took a few weeks back, we decided on this as our Christmas card!  I designed a double sided card, paired it with a gold shimmer envelope and printed the addresses directly on it in black ink.  Of course a holiday ornament stamp sealed the deal.

Cheers to the last week before Christmas!  Boy, am I looking forward to this long holiday weekend :)

Our Annual Christmas Tree Photo

Last year we informally started a tradition of taking a picture in front of our Christmas tree.  I think it's a cute way to document the years together and also the different tree color schemes we've done!  As a reminder, here is last year's tree

And here is our picture from last year.

Oops...we were kinda completely blocking the tree.  Well here is this years picture.  We took this on the night of my company Christmas party last Friday.

Have a great weekend!  I will be spending mine wrapping gifts like a busy little Elf.  Instagram will probably be my friend as well.  I am @ColorHug if you'd like to follow :)

Our Christmas Card Photo Shoot

Welcome back from the weekend!  We had a fun-filled Christmas tree trimming, hall-decking, cookie-eating, egg nog drinking time!  Now that it's December, I officially consider it Christmas season.  Because of this I will be posting about Christmas themed subjects all month long!

Simon and I sent out Christmas cards once six years ago.  They were handmade by myself and turned out great IMO.  We haven't sent them out since...for no particular reason.  It's funny because I design and sell Christmas cards, so you would think that I would send cards out yearly.

Anyway, Simon suggested that we send out cards this year so I agreed.  I set up a couple of Christmas scenes in our backyard, we got dressed up, pulled out some Christmas props and got to shooting!

Here are a few of our photos.  I will post the final card once we have sent them out.

Do you send out holiday cards, or are you more of a "Merry Christmas" text message person?

Buds

The buds on our lovely tree are finally coming out.  I was concerned for a moment because of the cold to warm to cold temperature changes over the last two months.  Out tree is resilient though and it held up!

Yep, that's the moon.

I hope you all have a great Holiday weekend!

Happenings Around Our Way

Hey guys!  I realized that I haven't really posted much on the house happenings around here in a bit.  So here goes:

To start off, I finally purchased a dslr, and have been having so much fun learning all of the functions on it!  Now I may become a "professional blogger" because of the better quality images (after this post)!  If you follow me on twitter you may have seen the tweets about it.

Next, I went on a slight shopping spree at Home Goods.  I haven't shopped there that much since I got another car last August, so a week after we got our tax refund I high tailed straight to Home Goods.  As I stated last month, I have been on a cooking kick.  This trip wasn't so much about home decor (well, just a couple of things), but more so about upgrading cookware and the like (we had rusty baking sheets, sub-par pasta forks, and a pan with a missing handle to name a few).  I also was planning to cook all of the meals that were on The Everygirl for the week, and to be enthused about it I knew I needed to upgrade.  (Side note...if you haven't checked out The Everygirl yet, go there as soon as you finish reading and commenting on this post!)

Here's a photo of everything that I purchased:

  • A set of knives
  • A high quality pan
  • A durable baking sheet
  • A pasta holder
  • A glass gold-dipped vase
  • A small metallic bowl (decor)
  • Pasta fork
  • Tongs
  • Set of mixing bowls
  • Decorative cup (decor)
  • Salt shaker and pepper grinder set (not shown)

This is where some of these items now reside and/or closeups of them (taken with the new cam!):

(placed the shakers on top of candle holders that I already had)

Here are a few photos of my recent culinary masterpieces :-D

Puffed pancakes (recipe from Naomi at Rockstar Diaries)

Veggie pizza

Chicken lettuce wraps with peanut sesame noodles

So what's been happening at your crib?

A few images from the week

I love photography and have since a young age.  My sister gets tired of me taking pictures all of the time, but I find it calming and a way to expand my creative mind.

Enjoy your weekend!

30 Day Photography Challenge

Welcome back from the weekend!  I hope you enjoyed yourselves.  It was the first weekend of no Holiday activities in almost a month!  We took the rest of our decorations down outside and had a nice dinner at Maggiano's for my Dad's birthday.

What about you guys?  Anything fun and/or exciting happen over the weekend?

I just wanted to let you all know that I started a 30 Day Photography Challenge on the 1st, so if you are interested in keeping up with it check out my other blog or click the little banner on the left with the cameras on it.

Here is one of my photos.  Day 5- from a high angle.
