Last week, the lovely ladies of blogland, Sherry from Young House Love and Katie from Bower Power, announced the pinterest challenge Winter Edition (hey, we still have a week of "Winter" left). As a quick refresher, you try to make something that you have seen, loved, and pinned on Pinterest. If you recall, the autumn edition that I created was this:
This time I decided to do something that would be functional in my everyday life.
The inspiration

Painting a mug seemed fun, so I headed to Ikea and bought a white mug for $2.99 (gotta love Ikea!). There is a specific paint that you are supposed to use, dishwasher-safe PermEnamel paint. Unfortunately I couldn't find this, so I got a paint pen that was ceramic friendly. Since I kind of love pink, I decided to paint the handle of the mug neon pink.
The process
1. Wash and dry the mug.
2. Lay down some paper, shake the pen and start painting the handle.
3. Let the handle dry for at least an hour. (tip: do not paint over sections more than once until it's completely dry. I learned the hard way, so I ended up wiping some paint off and repainting some areas!)
4. The end! The mug can be used for writing utensil storage...
jewelry storage...
Really whatever you want.
That was simple enough, eh? Make sure to head over to the other blogs that are leading the challenge, and if you have a DIY project don't be afraid to link up on them!
