Oh Savannah! Pt 1

I've been MIA for a little while because of my weekend getaway to Savannah, GA for Simon's birthday! We agreed that we like weekend trips better than week long stays (unless it's a place we're flying to and the tickets aren't super cheap). It's kind of like a cat nap; you wake up after 30 minutes feeling energized, but with a 5 hour block of sleep you still need more sleep. That's how it felt for sure. It's great to get away, but it's even better to come back to your own house, kitchen, bathroom and most of all bed!

I'm breaking this trip up into a few different posts because...well...there are so many pictures!

We stayed at the Residence Inn by Marriott in the Historic Downtown district from Friday-Sunday. The hotel was nice especially the mini kitchen in the room. The only thing that was missing was an oven, but I guess that's why it's mini. The grounds were beautiful, the decor was beautiful. Overall I rate it 3.5 out of 5 stars. We didn't so sightseeing on Friday, we just ate at a Cuban restaurant for lunch and lounged by the pool.

Didn't get any good room pictures, but here are the grounds and courtyard/pool area (you can also see room pictures on their site above).

View from our room. I could imagine an intimate party on that rooftop...if it were cleaned up and decorated all pretty...and if it could handle it.

The next day (Simon's b'day) we headed to City Market, which is an area for shopping and restaurants. Also, there is live music all day and night.

After buying some delicious wine from a local vineyard's shop, we headed to River Street. Along the way we stopped at this antique shop to see what was in store.

This place was HUGE! It kept going and going. Every turn you made there was another section of furniture! The attic was full of chairs. Amazing! It's called The Chair Room. I have never been surrounded by so many chairs in my life. If they weren't so pricey I'm sure we would have purchased something.

I'm a sucker for skylights!

We'll be back with part two soon!
