Dining Room Anew

Guys, I made a spontaneous decision over the weekend.  I had been contemplating this for a while then decided to take the plunge.  I painted our dining room.

If you recall, our dining room walls were brown (I call it muddy brown).

It's not a terrible color, but something about it just didn't sit right with me for a few years.  Mid last week I decided that I needed to paint, and dramatics were in order (color wise).  I get kind of spooked at the thought of painting a room a dark color, but I said eff it and went for it.

Lucky for me Lowe's was having a rebate on their Olympic Primer + Paint gallons.  This was my first time using a primer and paint in one and let me tell you, that saved SO MUCH time!  I went for the color called Dover Gray.  Of course it dries darker than it looks.

Chaos!

I'm the lazy one that doesn't take brackets or nails out of the wall if things will return to the same location.

Now here is the dining room in its Dover Gray glory!

I love that the curtains stand out better against this color.

I decided since we don't eat at the table often that I would find a proper home to display the chess set that my grandma's husband handmade for Simon one year for Christmas.  When I say handmade, I mean the board as well as all of the chess pieces...hand carved.  He's so talented!

As a refresher...

There are a couple of fun spots in here that I will go into detail about later :)

  2. This looks AMAZING! I think dining rooms are one of the rooms you can take a risk with dark paint and almost never fail. I LOVE the new color -- what a fun update!
