Guest Room Before and After

Greetings!

Wow...I haven't posted about a home decor update in a while.  I mentioned in this post that I needed to turn my guest room into a real guest room for Simon's parents for Christmas instead of the storage room.  I pulled it off and am happy with where it is as of now.

This is how the "guest room" looked before:

And this is after:

Enjoy your week!

2013 Wrap Up Pt. II

Since I took so many photos over the Christmas holiday I had to break this into two posts!  Here are the rest of the photos from the end of the year including some baking that my Mother-in-Law and I did together, the tree that we decorated at my Mom's house and the beautiful tablescape that my sister designed for our Christmas dinner.

That concludes 2013 and our festivities.  I hope yours was enjoyable as well!

2013 Wrap Up Pt. I

I can't quite start the new year of blogging without wrapping up 2013 in a nice little bow.  So how was your holiday?  The holiday season to me was a whirlwind.  Like everyone has been saying, Christmas came too fast.  I didn't do a lot of things that I wanted to do for the Christmas season (annual Christmas tree photo of Simon and me, send out Christmas photo cards of us, blog posts of our Christmas decor, blog link parties, outdoor decorations, listen to a lot of Christmas music, watch White Christmas, watch A Christmas Story...I could go on...blah!).  Still it was enjoyable.  Simon's family came to visit and this was the first time in over 8 years that his immediate family has been together on Christmas.  I was happy to see him happy.

As far as the Christmas decor, I was inspired by a group of Christmas trees that I saw last year in Nordstrom.

All red ornaments and gold garland with a nice spiky tree topper.  Beautiful!  So here is my interpretation of it along with the rest of our Christmas home decor.

More shots of the decor around the house-

The white cone shaped figure below was a diy that I made of a Christmas tree.  I pretty much hole punched the bottom portion of a piece of white paper then rolled it into a cone.  I placed it on top of a multi-colored led candle to make it appear as if there were multi-colored lights on the tree.  The group of four images below shows the different colors that the candle changed to.  The inspiration for it came from this pin on pinterest.

Here are a couple of images from Christmas morning at our house with my in-Law's.

Part II coming soon...

Thanksgiving Decor

Hello and Happy December...wow, already!  I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and long weekend.

I wanted to post the tablescape that I created for Thanksgiving.  This year I decided on a natural vibe, so browns and greens were the colors that I chose.  After all, I am a nature lover (minus the bugs), so these colors were ideal!  I also used a few natural elements such as wheat, fresh green apples (turned them into candles...found that idea on Pinterest!), a large roll of burlap ribbon turned table runner and feathers.  The napkins were actually plain white bandanas (I brilliant idea that I got from my sister) and the ribbon that was wrapped around it was a green burlap.  Enough talking, here it is...

I also decorated the coffee table to carry the theme across both rooms.

Now that Thanksgiving is over, it's time to get my house together for Christmas!  We'll be having family staying over this year, so I'm going to have to figure out how to turn our "guest room" (aka the spare room where a lot of our things are stored) into a warm, cozy, comfortable, inviting space (on a budget).  Wish me luck!

By the way, if you'd like to see our previous Thanksgiving tablescapes, click here, here, and here (the last link is from my old blog).
